Neuromuscular & TMJ

Neuromuscular Dentistry and TMJ in Cincinnati

What is TMJ?

Neuromuscular dentistry focuses on severe jaw misalignment problems and how they affect your teeth, nerves and muscles. Specifically, these problems stem from TMD - Temporomandibular joint disorder - which also goes by the name TMJ syndrome.

Your temporomandibular joint connects your jaw to your skull. This can become inflamed or misaligned for a variety of reasons and can be exacerbated by such activities as nail biting, sleeping on your stomach, eating large-sized bites of food and excessive clenching or grinding of the teeth.
